I buy practical cars. It’s really only ever been that way. I buy sedans, crossovers, bigger sedans, hatchbacks and wagons. Basically, if the road bike doesn’t fit in the boot, it doesn’t come home. That was, until yesterday when I put my hard earned pesos toward a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 1LT with the 2.0 turbo 4 motor. This may be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
That hood. Such sculpt. Much lines. Very angry. Wow.
I can’t tell you how much I dig those tail lights at night. But I dig them. I dig them a lot.
I don’t know why I tool this picture. I like the interior. A lot. But those climate controls are my life now and I love them. Also, Sport mode, always on. Any hate towards the auto? Remember, I got $7,200 off the sticker of this thing. I took the one I liked best with that kind of cash on the hood.
All in, I’m really happy about my purchase (let’s not kid here, I trade cars like I trade my, well, you know) and I hope to enjoy many years. It’s not terribly fast. It’s not painfully slow. But it handles really well and I am happy to have something not SO practical. I’ll give more of my impressions after I’ve driven it for more than a few miles.

I was literally just looking at the discounts on 2016 2.0T Camaro’s in my area...
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:34 |

So at 7200 off, what did you snag it for?
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:36 |

I can honestly say that this thing is faster than I ever anticipated it to be. I say go for it. The RS ones are especially nice, though, I didn’t want to pay for the difference.

Did you try the revised V6? I’ve had the opportunity to try the 2.0T on the ATS, but not the camaro. I like the motor for what it is, but the V6 is gnarly now.

Are those vent rims really also the climate control knobs...
That’s awesome, and at the same time kinda dumb. But in a loveable TVR dumb kind of way, so I’m going to chalk it up as a win.
On the plus side, you’ll have less passengers messing with your settings.

I’m into imports mostly and I’ve been driving 4 bangers my entire life, but I still can’t reconcile the idea of owning a 4 cyl Camaro. I can’t. I want to believe, though. When you have those updates on your driving impressions I’ll be readin’ em.

I don’t think you’d be able to find my body after my wife saw it...

MSRP was $28,190. $7,200 off made it $20,990. Not bad at all.

Was just craving a Camaro yesterday. Congrats!
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:42 |

Haha. I don’t have a wife or children. Only a mortgage.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:42 |

Yes they are! And they are hella fun to use! It’s awkward and quirky and I love it very much. Yes I do! The back seat is completely useless!
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:43 |

Shit that is a lot of car for $21k. Think of all the boring stuff you could have had for that price.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:44 |

Heh. I have the wife, and the 2 kids, both in rear facing car seats. At least I have 429 HP and a V8 in my DD. It’s not the most tossable...of, it’s not at all tossable, but it goes like stink.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:44 |

I honestly felt similarly. Briefly. Then I drove it. It’s a perfectly capable car with 275 hp and 295 lb ft of torque. It’s not bad at all. More than enough power for daily driving and some fun. I’m not planning to track it. Ever. I encourage you to drive one to see how it feels. Also, the comparable Mustang is equally more than adequate.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:44 |

That’s a great deal. I don’t know any other new cars that are that awesome for the price. Throw a nice set of wheels on there and it’ll be a looker too.

I love the revised V6. I just didn’t have one in stock. Nor did I want to pay the $1,500 up-charge for it. It is gnarly. I like it. I just didn’t need it.

Thank you! I really really like it so much!
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:51 |

And that’s what makes you smile! That’s good! See, we all have something fun!

True enough! Congrats, BTW!

this.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:56 |

Yeah, like the Cruze (I loved that car). It was 24K new. But I also got a crazy good deal then too. Those things depreciate so hard though because there are SO many of them being turned in at the auction from rental fleets.

I kind of dig the wheels right at the moment. I’m terrified of big wheels and tire replacement cost.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:57 |
|
Thank you!
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:58 |

Where do you live? That makes a difference on tire/wheel choice. To me, nothing screams “rental” like enormous sidewalls.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 14:58 |
|
Haha. Thank you! I figured it was solid logic.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 15:00 |
|
Agreed. Wholeheartedly. I live in NC. I prefer a LITTLE bit of comfort on the wheel side though and to have that you either have to spend a crap ton of money or you gots to have some sidewall.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 15:02 |

Yea that is weird. The rings around the vents in my s3 toggle that particular vent on/off, I cant imagine controlling temp or fan speed that way.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 15:06 |
|
That’s a very real fear. I actually swapped from 18's to 17's on my BRZ partially for that reason. The stock five spokers look good, but the Camaros with the RS package or different wheel options just look so damn good. Cost be damned, I don’t know that I could resist.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 15:12 |
|
Oh, you’re absolutely right. I will give you that. It’s just a cost/comfort thing for me right now.

Welcome to the wrong engine club

Nice buy!
The discounts on these right now make them pretty irresistible. Unfortunately I have kids, and when I sat in one of these my preffered seating position put the seat back directly up against the back seat.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 15:55 |

Been waiting for your reply! Also, tried to get a “Mustang” tag, not gots. Already taken. I can’t be as cool as Jake! Also, the amount of people that I’ve had in the last 24 hours tell me that I got the wrong motor OR “I wouldn’t even consider anything less than a V8!” is staggering. Also, none of these people had mullets. Well, none visible anyway.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 15:55 |

Congrats it looks great!
![]() 10/19/2016 at 15:56 |

Yeah, I’m not tall and only a small child could MAYBE sit behind me. But I don’t usually have people with me. The bike is a bit of a loss but I’ll figure something out.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 15:56 |

Thank you! Not bad for an iPotato!

If I didn’t have kids, I’d buy one for sure. As for the bike, bike rack?

I’m looking into trailer hitch mounted things at the moment. Not my favorite but I want to protect the car as much as possible too.
![]() 10/19/2016 at 17:52 |

That’s probably the best way to go then.

K-Roll, you haz wrong engine too? Wait, did I miss that? (Haven’t been around here as much as I’d like!)
![]() 10/20/2016 at 00:41 |

Indeed! I made the switch in August.
Mine is now with a larger intercooler, a tune making 364hp/410lb-ft, and with a new lower temp thermostat, is about to make more power with a revised and more aggressive tune. :)

That’s awesome! And that blue is beautiful! I am not much into modifying while inside warranty. But if I could do it and still maintain my warranty, I would! Congrats on the ride!
